Event Background 活动背景

Following on from last year’s successful event, the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong is planning on holding its 2018 Women in Business Forum in Shenzhen on Friday 11th May 2018.

The theme for IWD 2018 is #PressforProgress with the overall aim of fighting for gender parity, and they have issued the following call to action.

“With the recent Hollywood film industry scandal and World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Reportsfindings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away - there has never been a more important time to keep motivated and #PressforProgress. And while we know that gender parity won't happen overnight, the good news is that across the world women are making positive gains day by day.”

继2016和2017年杰出商业女性论坛活动在深圳成功举办两届之后，广东英国商会正筹办将于2018年5月11日星期五，在深圳举行第七届杰出商业女性论坛。之所以选择与国际妇女节同一天，也是希望借此机会让这个女性的节日更具意义和价值。 

2018年国际妇女节的主题是#PressforProgress，其目的在于争取性别平等，并发出了以下行动号召：

“最近的好莱坞电影风波和世界经济论坛的2017全球性别差异报告的结果告诉我们：我们在争取性别平等的路上已经走过了200余年——而现在是保持势头，力求突破的最好时机。我们都知道性别平等不会在一夜之间实现，但仍有女性在全世界范围内日渐努力，收获进步的好消息传来。”

Forum Theme 论坛主题

Using the theme #PressforProgress we plan on sharing some inspiring and motivational talks from women who have been able to achieve great success in their careers, who have broken in to male-dominated industries, or been the first female in their family to go to college, or the first female in senior management.

在#PressforProgress这个主题下，我们希望邀请一些敢于突破的女性嘉宾来做启发性的、激励人心的演讲。这些女性或许已经在自己的事业上取得巨大成功，或许已立足于男性主导的工作领域，或许是家庭中第一个走进大学的女性，或许是高层管理当中的第一位女性。

Speakers Wanted 演讲嘉宾招募

We would like to invite five speakers from different cultural backgrounds and industries to our next year’s Women in Business Forum. If you would like to share your story (either in English or Chinese) on any of the following themes, then we’d love to hear from you. We also would love to invite a male perspective on how they and their business has helped to promote gender equality and support women both in and outside of work. Below are some of the themes we’d love to discuss:

•       Overcoming difficulties to gain access to higher education and/or succeed in your career

•       Breaking in to a male-dominated industry and the challenges you faced

•       The first female to achieve some breakthroughs in certain field...

我们计划邀请五位来自不同文化背景和工作领域的男女嘉宾来到我们的杰出商业女性论坛。我们欢迎女性嘉宾来分享她们的亲身经历，鼓励年轻女性。同时，我们也欢迎男性嘉宾来从他们的视角来分享，男性在职场上是如何帮助推进两性平等，并在工作内外支持女性的。以下是我们希望探讨的话题（中英皆可），欢迎大家推荐或自荐！

•       作为一名女性，如何克服困难去取得更高学历或事业成功

•       如何立足于男性主导的领域以及你所面临的困难与挑战

•       第一位女性在某一个领域获得成功或有所突破

What We Hope to Achieve 我们希望看到的

We hope that all attendees from this event will come away feeling inspired, and with some ideas and tools on how to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. 

我们希望论坛的所有来宾在离场的时刻都备受启迪，并能获取一些想法和途径去激励身边的朋友、同事以及整个社区团体去思考并行动，为两性的平等和包容性奉献自己的力量。
