The British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong  (BCCGD) is managed by a fully-staffed Secretariat, operating under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Committee. Committee Members are drawn from Members of the BCC and are voted onto the Executive Committee.   One member of staff from the British Consulate General Guangzhou also sits on the Executive Committee on a non-officio basis.

Mark Clayton

From the UK, Mark qualified as an accountant at the age of 20 and soon after moved to China in pursuit of personal, cultural and professional growth. Since his arrival in Guangdong, China in early 2005, Mark has gained a wide range of experiences, management expertise and a deep understanding of Chinese culture. His skills and foresight with business development has allowed the C2W Group to expand and grow to the family of companies it is today.Mark is proficient in Mandarin Chinese, a member of accounting bodies AAT & CIMA and a MSc in Global Management. Mark has a passion for charity and giving back to the community, his greatest achievement was received in February 2019 becoming an International Peace Award laureate, having his work over the years recognised in the Field of Philanthropy.In 2019 Mark was elected to the Executive Committee of BritCham Guangdong, a position that he has treated with reverence and thoroughly enjoyed. He feels he has so much more togive the Chamber, and given the opportunity, is hoping to work closely with the staff in 2020 to help continue their amazing work, expanding on their successes and improving the Chamber for all members.

Jeremy Sargent OBE

Seasoned China lawyer and entrepreneur with over 20 years\\' experience living and working in China;A fluent Mandarin speaker, completed his first degree in Chinese at Leeds University in the UK;Moved to Guangzhou in 1998 as a newly-qualified lawyer to assist a major London-based international law firm open its first office in Mainland China. Instrumental in building up the firm’s China practice, assisting clients from across the world with many of the legal aspects of establishing and operating business in China.Established “The Happy Monk”, the first gastro pub concept in Guangzhou in 2009, which has grown to become an award-winning brand in the hospitality industry, with a team of 180 employees, operating five busy downtown locations; Executive MBA Degree Holder of a joint programme offered by Columbia University Business School, London Business School and Hong Kong University Business School;Awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition to his services on behalf of British businesses and legal services in China.

Ricky Wong Man Kai

I have served Britcham Guangdong as the Honorary Treasurer for more than 4 years and am familiar with the financial affairs of the Chamber. I was born in Hong Kong and have lived and worked in Guangzhou for 20+ years. In my day to day work I help UK and PRC companies in their business development activities. My educational qualifications (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA and MBA Warwick) are mostly from UK institutions. Therefore, from culture, education and business perspectives, I am very interested and keen to help UK businesses advancing in China and vice versa. I believe my background and experience would be able to contribute to the GD Chamber.

Penny Chen

Dr Penny Chen has been working in the UK higher education section for over 10 years. Following the completion of a PhD degree in Business and Management from the University of Manchester in 2014, Penny has joined the University of Central Lancashire as a Lecturer. Penny is currently working at UCLan as an Associate Professor in Innovation and Enterprise. Penny is also the General Manager of UCLan Technology (Shenzhen) Ltd. which is wholly owned by the University of Central Lancashire. Penny is overseeing the university incubator and acceleration in China, which has over 500 start-ups. Penny created UCLan Online.

William Sung

Having previous roles as executive committee and then running the Chamber as executive manager between June 2019-June 2020 (through COVID), William Sung set up the GBA strategy, brought in an official marketing platform and CRM. Being British-Chinese, Will's well place not only operationally but culturally to continue progressing the Chamber. Having worked in 8 countries in Banking, started 3 start-ups including a FinTech in the GBA since 2017 and held executive leadership positions; Will pride himself on integrity, business acumen and local and government connections from operating in the GBA since 2010. Will is also an associate MBA leadership and executive coach to the HK University of Science and Technology amongst other top Universities in Hong Kong. Along with this business consulting roles he has a passion in personal development and is a product designer for behavioural therapy tools. Will lives and works in the GBA and has MNC, SME and HNW clientele focused in the region as well as the greater China geography.

Christopher Devereux

Christopher Devereux is Managing Director of OmnidexCN HK Ltd, an outsourcing and world-class manufacturing company based in Guangzhou. He started outsourcing in China in 1996 and opening Chinasavvy in 2002. He has over 30 years\\' experience in metal and plastic processing in different parts of the world including Australasia, United States and Europe. Currently Chinasavvy employs over 60 people in Guangdong and Vietnam including over 35 engineers.

As 8 years of BritCham member Kris be more than enthusiastic in helping BriCham and its members in building effective networks with GBA local entities, co-create new opportunities and contribute my expertise.

Benjamin King

Benjamin has lived in China for 6 years, having made the move to China to support British businesses. Benjamin first moved to Changsha in 2016, and has lived in 5 different cities across China. He has a broad range of experiences and speaks fluent Mandarin. Benjamin has a deep understanding of China, both through his studies (Masters thesis on the role of Guanxi in UK-China business relationships) and business experience on the ground. Having moved to South China in 2020, Benjamin has made Guangzhou the base for his company Kinyu SCM, and his family. As CEO of Kinyu SCM, Benjamin continues to support British businesses in China, specifically around Supply Chain Management, and has large UK companies such as Sky as his clients. Benjamin is a natural networker and loves to champion British business in China. As a lateral thinker, a position on the committee would allow Benjamin to connect the resources of the Chamber to those who need it. Benjamin is a keen listener and problem solver, he takes time to analyse the problems of others, understand what their needs are and connect them to the right people whenever possible. He will make a great contribution to Britcham GD.
