The British Chamber of Commerce Guangzhou (BCCGD) is managed by a fully-staffed Secretariat, operating under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Committee. Committee Members are drawn from Members of the BCC and are voted onto the Executive Committee.   One member of staff from the British Consulate General Guangzhou also sits on the Executive Committee on a non-officio basis.

Jeremy Sargent OBE

Jeremy Sargent OBE is the founding partner of JSA, a legal consultancy firm based in Guangzhou which provides legal advice to foreign companies in China. Jeremy is a qualified lawyer who has lived and worked in China for over 15 years. Jeremy advises clients on many legal aspects of establishing and operating business in China. Jeremy is also Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong and sits on a number of business-related committees. Jeremy advises extensively on labour law issues.

Christopher Devereux

Christopher Devereux is Managing Director of Chinasavvy HK Ltd, an outsourcing and manufacturing quality control company based in Guangzhou. He started outsourcing in China in 1996 and opening Chinasavvy in 2002. He has over 30 years’ experience in metal and plastic processing in different parts of the world including Panama, United States and Europe.

Jamie Rowlands

Jamie is the partner in the Intellectual Property team and head of the Guangzhou Representative Office for Gowling WLG (UK) LLP Guangzhou Representative Office which is a full service international law firm. He has experience in all areas of contentious IP matters, and have acted for clients in patent, trademark and anti-counterfeiting cases in the Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and the European Patent Office in many different sectors including retail, entertainment, software, telecoms, manufacturing and media.

Janet Xu

Janet is specialized in China indirect tax advisory services and M & A tax services. Over the years, Janet has developed vast experience of advising on China indirect tax efficiency, indirect tax regulatory compliance, formulating trade model indirect tax planning, indirect tax audit defence and applying for special tax ruling.Janet also has extensive experience in providing PRC tax consulting, corporate reorganization and restructuring advice. She has been serving clients of a broad range of industries, including consumer and industrial manufacturing, trading, banking and financial services etc.

Ricky Wong

Ricky is a partner at KPMG in charge of its Southern China Transaction and Restructuring Practice. He holds an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales as well the Hong Kong Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He has been with KPMG since 1987 and has handled a large number of multinational audit clients. Ricky moved to Guangzhou in 1999 specializing in merger and acquisitions advisory services to multinational companies, PRC companies and private equity firms. He is also a regular speaker at Sun-Sen University and the University of Hong Kong Economic Daily.

Crystal Zou

Crystal has over 14 years of experience in government relations, PR, Sales and Marketing. Currently she is Business Development Manager in Arup covering areas of southern China. She works directly with the Management team in Shenzhen in the development and execution of South China marketing and business development strategies. She based in Guangzhou office and reports to leader of the Shenzhen Office. She has strong sales and marketing skills, sound understanding of business environment and opportunities in the UK and China market. She also has rich experience in dealing with Chinese authorities and excellent cross-cultural communication skills.

Paul Corr

Paul Corr has twenty-five years experience working in the UK and China within the Service and Education sectors. Currently the Director of Admissions & Marketing for The British School of Guangzhou, Paul has resided in China for 12 years, moving to Guangzhou 5 years ago with his wife and two children.

Barry Wilson

Barry Wilson is an experienced independent design and construction consultant working predominantly in Hong Kong and China and currently based in Shenzhen. He is a Member of the HK Institute of Urban Design, the HK Institute of Landscape Architects, and a Chartered Member of the UK Landscape Institute and is a HK Registered Landscape Architect. He undertakes part-time roles as Assistant Professor at Peking University Graduate School, Department of Urban Design in Shenzhen and The University of HK, Faculty of Architecture as well as running visiting programmes for overseas students from Lund University, Sweden and Pennsylvania State University, USA.

Harry Sherratt

Harry is currently the Managing Director of Meijin Tailored Tutorials, a Shenzhen-based bespoke training consultancy that provides language and skills support for both students and businesses. His main aims are to provide better quality of education for students in China, in particular focusing on skill-based learning and cultural acquisition, to ensure that Chinese students are better equipped for a globalised world.

Clare Wootton

Clare Wootton, Owner of Western Ways. Clare has 20 years corporate experience, including 10+ years in retail buying in the UK working for some of the UK\\'s largest retailers. She has created a professional service, providing consultancy to UK retail & Internationally branded product companies that seek to understand the Chinese market, the Chinese consumer or investigating the possibility of launching their company or product into the Chinese market. Clare also offers consultancy and training services to Chinese manufacturers looking to launch products in the UK or US using her market knowledge to bridge the gap in between the East and West.

Palace Peng

Palace Peng, a MSc in International Business & Management, is the Chief Representative of University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) at Shenzhen Virtual University Park, and the General Manager of UCLan Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd (UTSL). She has over 10 years’ experience in international business development and cooperation. She joined UTSL in 2011 and so far she has successfully developed an International technology transfer business model and machnicism between UK and China for UCLan.

Joe Liang

As Business Development Manager in ARUP – a comprehensive engineering company. The main responsibility is to carry out strategic analysis and research on the economy, policy, industry trend, competition and customer demand etc. Helping the company achieve medium and long term development plan. Establish and carry out business objectives, target at new areas and new business.

Helen Zhou

Shekou International School Currently the ISS AP Office School Development Advisor (China), and Director of External Relations for Shekou International School (SIS), Helen has served SIS for 6 years overseeing School Operations, Compliance, Facility Development and Government / Community Relations.Prior to joining ISS Helen gained expertise in cross-cultural communication and government protocols through leading successful team efforts in Hong Kong / Shenzhen cross-boarder government projects.
