2017 BritCham Guangzhou Christmas Gala Dinner

Jingle bells are ringing out as Christmas is just around the corner. To celebrate the festive season, once again this year the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong held our Christmas Gala Dinner on 9th at the Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou, welcoming almost 200 guests for Christmas food, drinks, festive music and prize giveaways. The Chamber would like to give special thanks to our sponsors, EtonHouse International School in Foshan, Guangzhou New Continent Engineering Project Management Co., Ltd, Knight Frank Property Consultants Guangzhou Branch, and HiTouch Consulting. Without their support, this event would not have been such a great success.

节日的钟声徐徐响起，圣诞节就要来啦。为了庆祝即将到来的圣诞节，广东英国商会于12月9日在广州丽思卡尔顿酒店举办了一场圣诞晚宴，超过200名宾客们齐聚共享晚宴，欢庆圣诞。由衷感谢佛山伊顿国际学校、广州新大陆工程项目管理有限公司、莱坊房地产经纪（上海）有限公司广州分公司和艾达旗咨询。在你们的鼎力支持之下，本次晚宴顺利举行。

The dinner began with an opening speech from Jeremy Sargent OBE, Chairman of BritCham Guangdong who welcomed the guests. It was also our honour to have the British Consulate-General GZ Consul-General, Ms. Karen Maddocks join us for the evening and give a speech wishing Christmas cheer to everyone.

晚宴由广东英国商会主席赵利民先生的欢迎致辞拉开了序幕。此外，我们还荣幸地邀请到了英国驻广州总领事Ms. Karen Maddocks出席本次晚宴, 并给来宾们致以圣诞节日的问候。

Throughout the whole evening guests enjoyed Christmas music and a delicious Christmas buffet dinner provided by the Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou.

活动当晚，嘉宾们在圣诞音乐的氛围里享用广州丽思卡尔顿酒店精心准备的圣诞自助餐。

To get guests into the festive mood, the entertainment kicked off with a wonderful Christmas choir from American International School Guangzhou (AISG). While guests were enjoying their Christmas dinner, a beautiful piano and violin performance added yet more festive atmosphere to the evening.

晚会伊始，广州美国人国际学校的合唱团为我们歌唱了圣诞颂歌，让宾客们切身体会到圣诞的节日氛围。在嘉宾们享用圣诞自助餐的同时，小提琴钢琴演奏为晚宴增添了一丝愉悦舒适的气氛。

Lucky or Unlucky?

The (Un?) Lucky Draw marked the climax of the evening. Guests were all looking forward to being gifted with a stroke of luck and to win a great prize. The prizes included a round trip business class ticket from Guangzhou to London sponsored by Oman Air and several 5-star hotel room vouchers. Some winners were lucky and were happy winners of such great prizes, while some were less fortunate and won prizes such as a Union Jack flag and a 2003 BritCham Directory in the (Un?) Lucky Draw. The fabulous prizes from our generous sponsors also made the WeChat Quiz a special highlight of the evening. Only those with quick minds, and even quicker thumbs were able to win a prize!

好运来临了吗？幸运抽奖是晚上的一大重头戏。嘉宾们都非常期盼着被好运砸中。丰厚的奖品包括1张广州往返伦敦的商务舱机票以及多家5星级酒店住宿券。除了有机会赢取我们的好运丰厚大奖，还有可能收获我们的安慰奖如英国小国旗和2003年珍藏版的英国商会会员名录。由赞助商提供的精美奖品也使微信有奖问答活动成为圣诞酒会的一大亮点。嘉宾们踊跃回答问题，赢取心动大奖。

To help those in need, during the evening we held a charity auction and we are very happy to announce that we raised RMB 14,000 by auctioning 1 hotel voucher, 2 paintings and 1 round trip air ticket from GZ to all Finnair European destinations. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Captivating International.  

在庆祝这个欢乐节日的同时，广东英国商会也希望能借由我们微小的力量，帮助到有需要的群体。活动当晚我们举办了慈善拍卖，通过拍卖由阳朔悦榕庄分赞助的酒店套房住宿券，依高饰漆赞助的两幅画作以及一张由芬兰航空赞助的广州往返欧洲的机票，共筹集到了人民币一万四千元。所筹得款项将捐助至Captivating International，同时在此我们对赞助商公司以及嘉宾表示衷心感谢！

The dress code for the Christmas gala dinner was formal but Christmassy and our guests certainly dressed to impress! We chose the Most Christmassy Woman and Most Christmassy Man who won the loudest cheers from the crowds. 

The Happy Monk Team also led guests in a traditional game of ‘Charades’ featuring popular food & drink items which was a lot of fun!

圣诞晚宴的着装要求是正式却不失圣诞风味的打扮。来看一看我们的最佳圣诞着装大赛，最佳圣诞着装男生和女生获得了台下最响亮的欢呼声。
