Education Working Group Meeting

  Overview

In  response to the rapid growth of the education  sector in South China over the last 2 years, British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong has set up  the Britcham Education Working Group to better serve our member community since 2015. The main purpose of setting up this group is to bring together our members in this sector to help meet like-minded contacts and discuss operational  issues they are experiencing in South China. 

In the  upcoming Britcham Education Working Group on 5th  Sep, we will be discussing 3 main topics related  to the education sector. The first topic will be children education in content and language integrated learning. With a growth mind-set of giftedness, how children as learners can grow  through a process of “think, feel, speak and be” that is to balance the cognitive and affective domains by mastering the art of critical thinking through strong empathy, persuasive communication and committed action to give back  to the world. For the second topic, our invited speaker will be focus on Positive Discipline, which is a discipline model used by schools, and  in parenting, that focuses on the positive points of behaviour, based on the idea that  there are no bad children, just good and bad behaviors. Teachers and parents teach and reinforce the good behaviors while weaning the bad behaviors without hurting the child verbally or physically. Apart from children education, foreign teacher will also be  the topic we will put spotlight on in this event. Due to the present limitation of Chinese social security system, the foreign teachers who  stay in China may confront with a lot of potential risks, which include the diseases and accidents, the obstacles of health  management, emergency rescue and the public  services. Our invited speaker will share her experience in designing the  solutions to solve the related risks for these  groups in education sector.
