Position: Marketing and Communications Specialist

Gross Salary Range: RMB 7,000-9,000/month (gross)

Annual Leave: 15 Days

Type of Position: Full time

Location: IFC, Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou

Job Description:
The British Chamber of Commerce South China (BritCham SC) is seeking a Marketing and Communication Specialist to begin work in Guangzhou office as soon as possible.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The precise nature of your duties and responsibilities will vary depending upon the role applied for. However, the roles, duties and requirements set out below will generally apply.

 

As a marketing and communication professional, you need to have strong communication skills and excellent marketing skills, establish great engagement for BritCham SC members with a focus on attention to detail. Depending on the role, you will assist with or play a crucial role in branding BritCham SC and driving membership and event promotion. You shall also give full support with regard to membership and event planning engagement and enquiries. As deemed necessary, you will be expected to support other BritCham staff on membership and event matters.

 

You will need to understand BritCham SC's positioning and goals; you will also be required to visit appropriate potential and existing members in order to promote the full services that BritCham SC has to offer and seek appreciate channels and way to help brand BritCham SC.

 

Your main responsibilities include the following and any other duties that may arise in the course of your work:

 

PR & Event Support (60%)

  • Lead the creation of social media content and execute digital marketing campaigns across platforms (WeChat, LinkedIn, Weibo, email, Instagram) to      drive event attendance.

  • Manage all BritCham SC media and digital channels, and develop social media calendars across these platforms to ensure timely updates and consistent      communication with stakeholders.

  • Plan and execute event marketing initiatives, including designing sponsorship package layouts, editing vlogs and podcasts, producing newsletters, and      creating festival videos.

  • Design and produce visually engaging event materials, working closely with vendors to ensure high-quality production and timely delivery of physical      materials.

  • Support the Events Manager in the planning and execution of both offline and online events.

  • Draft and distribute press releases for chamber events and news, ensuring media coverage and public awareness.

 

 

Brand Promotion & Business Development (30%)

  • Identify growth opportunities and develop promotional content to execute strategies that enhance brand awareness.

  • Create and manage social media calendars across platforms (WeChat, LinkedIn, website, newsletter) to ensure timely communication with stakeholders.

  • Actively seek sponsorship and partnerships for media services and events.

  • Expand stakeholder networks, including media, NGOs, and communities.

  • Manage media partnerships and coordinate contractual agreements.

 

 

Membership Engagement (10%)

  • Design initiatives to increase member participation and retention.

  • Support membership and partnership outreach efforts.

 

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be energetic, curious, highly motivated with a great personality, sociable and personable, IT literate, an excellent organiser and communicator, an active listener and a team player with a proven ability to work independently. Specific requirements for either role are as follows:

 

• Bachelor's degree in marketing or retailed field and/or equivalent work experience;
• At least 2 years' working experience in an international environment. (digital marketing experience is desirable).

• Competent marketing tools skills, such as Xiumi, Canvas, Photoshop, Jianying etc;
• Fluent written and spoken Chinese and English;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving;
• Willing to face members and contacts and answer their enquiries with good negotiation skills;
• Ability to work independently as part of a team;
• Self-motivated and open-minded

 

The post will offer the right candidate an excellent opportunity to interact with the international business community in the South China in a professional and challenging work environment. This exciting position will allow you to also grow your own network, learn how an NGO is operated and exposure with working with a wide range of professionals from different industries including the British government. Candidates will need to demonstrate strong self-motivation and desire to increase BritCham brand awareness and leverage members’ engagement through different aspects.
