OVERVIEW

LEH International School Foshan is open to students aged between 10 and 18. Its parent school, Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton, London was established in 1710 and consistently achieve outstanding academic results. In 2020, 96% of the students achieved grades A*-B at A Level and 95% grades A*-A (levels 9‑7) at GCSE. Over 10% of the students attained a place at either Cambridge or Oxford University.


LEH International School Foshan will follow the footsteps of its parent school in providing a holistic British education to young people with a particular focus on their pastoral care. The students also have the option of weekly or termly boarding to take advantage of the School’s extensive facilities.

THE POST

I. Background

The Compliance Officer will assist the Compliance Manager to ensure the School is compliant with government regulations on overall school safety including but not limited to fire protection, food safety control and school bus operation. The post-holder will be a responsible person for monitoring the activities of the School’s caterer in accordance with the relevant national and local government regulations and policies. He/she will assist the Compliance Manager in obtaining copies of and analysing such policies and regulations from a number of government organisations to ensure the School operates within these parameters. 


The Compliance Officer will have plenty of opportunities to interface with staff hired locally and from abroad (mainly from the UK).  A friendly and helpful approach is essential as the post-holder will be dealing with a range of compliance issues and interfacing with personnel both internally and externally.  He/she must be polite and calm even when faced with challenges.

 

II. Job Responsibilities

Food Safety

  • Be the appointed second food safety officer (the first being the Compliance Manager) and upload all of the necessary information to the government portals under the direction of the Compliance Manager;

  • Must be willing to attend appropriate training sessions, undertake and pass the necessary tests and obtain the required certificates; 

  • Monitoring food safety control according to government requirements and at agreed frequencies with follow-up reports;

  • Keep abreast of latest government regulations and changes, analyse these on a timely basis and produce summary reports for review by the Compliance Manager and if appropriate the Director of Finance and Operations;

  • Support any food hygiene/ kitchen / dining hall audits or visits organised by the government; 

  • Deputise the Compliance Manager when she is not available;  


Health & Safety and General Compliance

  • Assist the Operations Team in supervising the smooth operation of the school bus service;

  • Overseeing the implementation and compliance with School safety and security procedures/policies;

  • Maintaining a regular and effective communication with related departments for proper follow up on school safety controls; and

  • Assist the Compliance Manager in following up of any health & safety and compliance issues.


General

  • Keep the Compliance Manager informed of any compliance related matters on a regular and timely basis;

  • Attend Compliance Team meetings and general staff meetings as required;

  • Participate in the School’s performance management review process; and

  • Perform any other tasks which commensurate with the role as reasonably requested by the Head Master, the Director of Finance and Operations and the Compliance Manager.


III. Requirements

Essential:

  • An excellent academic background; 

  • Fluent in Mandarin with working language proficiency in both written and spoken English;

  • Capable of quickly interpreting numerical and written information;

  • Excellent analytical skills, great eye-for-detail and can assimilate and interpret a large volume of information;

  • Good level of computer literacy, especially in the use of Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Word;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 

  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion;

  • Ability to work within a changing environment;

  • A team player who can also work independently;

  • Willingness to help others; and

  • Commitment to personal professional development.


Preferred:

  • Have worked or is working in an international company or an education environment;

  • Experience in dealing with health & safety and/or food safety related matters; and/or

  • Experience in reviewing and/or analysing government policies/regulations.
