Guangzhou Christmas Gala Dinner 广州圣诞晚宴
Blessed with cool but not too cold festive weather, the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong hosted our 2019 Guangzhou Christmas Gala Dinner on 6th Dec at LN Garden Hotel. It was a time to reflect and celebrate the year with our members, friends, partners and a wider community. The 2019 Guangzhou BritCham Christmas Gala Dinner was a sell-out crowd, with additional tables added on the day to accommodate that last minute rush where people didn’t want to miss this Christmas time together. We welcomed over 220 guests which other than our members included diplomats, media partners and other partners all enjoying Christmas carols, live music, Bingo, musical Christmas crackers, banter, networking and dancing the night away. MC on the night was no other than our executive manager, William Sung, after kicking off the proceedings our BritCham chairman Jeremy Sargent OBE gave an open speech about BritCham’s in 2019 achievements and engagements with members. Our diamond sponsor Canadian International School of Guangzhou also shared with us a video to review their annual events and how they joined BritCham's dots and connected with BritCham community. William also invited Liberty Timewell, Deputy Consular General, to say a few words where she spoke of the close work with BritCham in 2019 and a forward look to supporting BritCham in the 2020 GBA agenda. Christmas Carols performed by Britannia International School
Angelic voices and fun movements were performed by our supporting member Britannia International School Children’s choir, performing three Christmas songs helping to lit up the Christmas atmosphere for the whole crowd with all singing along. And then Easy Tiger rocked up the stage with a string of classic British tracks as well as Christmas songs.

Bingo, Bingo, Prizes and more Bingo During the event, we also had an exciting game of bingo hosted by one of our F&B sponsors The Happy Monk. Winners of bingo received prizes ranging from food to fitness experiences. Christmas Jumpers VS. Period Drama
Worst Christmas Jumper
Best Period Drama Dress code of the night is worst Christmas jumper or period drama. The night saw over 30 attendees competing for the Worst Christmas Jumper Award and Period Drama Award respectively. Some of our competitors even had exactly same ugly jumper and decided to join forces to win! And some dedication to the cause with ambitious designs to woo the judges and impressing the crowd alike. After three rounds of pitching, judging and public voting, the winners of the two awards took away some amazing prizes including luxury hotel room voucher, 5-star hotel buffets for two, travel kits, gold leaf worth 2888 rmb, and also our ultimate prize, a Return Flight Ticket to UK! As the night continued with the good food and wine, whisky and ice-creams, we brought on the musical Christmas crackers. Lots of people joining in on the dance floor, dancing and grooving to the music until it stopped, before going wild grabbing & popping our special Christmas crackers loaded with secret and surprise gifts. Prizes which included signature restaurant coupons, healthcare packages, buffet, room voucher, travel essentials as well as a gold leafed lion.
When we just thought the final song came to an end, everyone swaying to an end, Easy Tiger made a surprise return to the stage to rock it again; a cheer and roar, more people joined the dance floor where a final set was played late into the night.
The night was a huge success and it was great to see so many BritChamers enjoying Christmas time and making new friends. The conversations and networking continued long after the event finished - apparently to 5am for some!
