The British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong Executive Committee AGM ¨C A Call for Nominations
The British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong (BritCham) is one of the most active business Chambers of Commerce here in Guangdong, organising over 50 events per year on behalf of its almost 200 corporate and individual members.
BritCham's wider purpose is to facilitate increasing trade and investment ties between UK and Guangdong-based businesses. We do this via our extensive range of events and other services, including business networking, round tables, information sharing, social events and other events and initiatives. We also organize a number of successful ¡°flagship¡± large-scale events, including our annual Women in Business, IP Forum and British Days. In short, we exist to help our members ¡°join the dots¡± in a complex business environment ¨C to promote, share and connect ¨C with an ultimate goal of business success.
Operating at the very heart of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), there has never been a more exciting time for BritCham to continue to build and grow.
As declared by the Executive Committee of BritCham, and in accordance with the BritCham Bye-laws, nominations for the next Executive Committee elections will be open from 18th December and close at 16:00pm on 31st December 2019.

BritCham Executive Committee Structure
There are a total of 10 positions available on the Executive Committee as follows:

How the Nomination Process Works
Overview
The BritCham AGM and election takes place every year pursuant to BritCham Bye-Laws. ¡¤ Nominations will be open to BritCham Members for a period of 8 working days. Representatives of BritCham Members may apply for one or more of the positions available. ¡¤ After the close of nominations, the candidates standing for each position will be announced by BritCham. Any contested position will be then be determined by way of a vote. In the event that no position is contested, there will be no actual vote. ¡¤ The election result will be declared the Tuesday immediately following the close of voting (if any).
Voting
¡¤ Only votes cast by BCC members (one vote per member) in Guangdong will be counted. ¡¤ The voting period will last 6 working days, closing at 16:00 on the 10th January 2019. ¡¤ All voting will take place simultaneously during one election.
2020 AGM Schedule
1. Chairman a) Supervise the Chamber and support the staff. b) Represent the Chamber at meetings and events when required to do so. c) Chair the monthly Committee meetings. d) Assign roles and responsibilities to Committee members e) Manage Committee Members in their roles
2. Vice Chairman a) Report directly to the Chairman b) Support the Chairman in carrying out his/her duties c) Assume the responsibilities and duties of the Chairman in his/her absence
3. Treasurer a) Exercise supervision over the financial affairs of the Chamber b) Prepare and present the annual financial reports and budgets of the Chamber, coordinate the efforts of the auditors appointed by the Committee c) Coordinate the establishment and implementation of procedures and standards for the orderly conduct of the financial affairs of the Chamber d) Supervise the Executive Manager in the maintenance of the financial records of the Chamber
4. Committee Members a) Report directly to the Committee Chairman b) Support the Chairman and Vice Chairman in carrying out their duties c) Assume assigned roles within the Committee
