April 19: Education Working Group Lecture: First Aid in Campus and Beyon

How much do you know about first aid? 

First aid is the assistance given to a person suffering anything from a minor to a serious illness or injury, this assistance can potentially save someone’s life.  First aid covers a range of techniques, such as carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as well as the complete treatment of many minor conditions, even how to correctly apply a bandage to a wound.   First aid is generally performed by someone with basic medical training, for a serious incidence it can be performed before medical professionals arrive and for minor injuries it can even be in place of seeking medical treatment.

In this lecture, we are glad to invite Dr.Eric Wang from Bupa Quality HealthCare Guangzhou Medical Centre to present a lecture of first aid in campus.

What we could learn from this lecture?

How can you help if someone were to suddenly lose consciousness? What about more common or frequent accidents such as if someone has an accident resulting in a laceration, fracture, bleeding, or burn etc, what would you do?  when someone gets bitten by animals, what can we do? In this course, you will learn not only AED and CRP, but also will learn how to handle all of these cases before the doctor can be found.

Dr. Eric Wang graduated from Peking Medical University and obtained a doctor degree of surgery from Peking Union Medical College in 2003.Dr. Wang has over 20-years work experience in the healthcare industry. Before joining Bupa, he has worked in the medical and health management field in both public and private sectors. He is an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon and has very extensive experience of facility management and cross border medical team management. Dr. Wang is an experienced AHA (American Heart Association) instructor for BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
