Mar 29: HR Compliance Audit and Risk in the Hiring Process – HR Roundtable

What is a HR Compliance Audit?

Like a finance audit, a HR audit is an independent and objective evaluation of the current state of an organization’s HR policies, practices, documentation, and systems. A HR audit can alert a company about hidden HR-related problems and errors, as well as possible compliance issues against a backdrop of China’s ever-evolving rules and regulations. This can allow an organization to establish best practices, thereby protecting it against possible operational and legal risk.

Risk in the Hiring Process:

Lots of companies used to take for granted that the recruitment procedure is easy to implement and will contain no legal risks, as it is just a simple ‘match’ game to choose the right candidates. However, many common practices during the recruitment process are actually not appropriate nor compliant with the labour laws. For example, do you include any discriminatory information on the job ads? Do you ask unsuitable questions during the interview? Do you do anything sensitive or disputed during the offer process? Any inappropriate actions during the recruitment procedure will bring the company risks.

The British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong, in partnership the German Chamber of Commerce in China | South & Southwest will host a HR roundtable, inviting Dezan Shira & Associates to introduce in detail about the importance of HR audits in China. They will explain how HR Audits can help companies, especially foreign-invested companies; avoid HR related risks as well as the potential risks during the recruitment procedure and how to avoid it. Real case studies will be shared to better explain HR Compliance Audit and Risk in the Hiring Process.

What you will take away from this session:

·         Why doing HR compliance audit is necessary? (case study included)

·         How we do HR compliance audit? What kind of things do we need to audit? (contract, handbook, etc.)

·         Which law or regulation do we need to rely on when facing these audit problems?

·         How to deal with these audit problems?

·         What are the possible risks during the recruitment procedure?

·         How to avoid and prevent such risks?
