UK Alumni Mixer in GuangzhouLast Wednesday Night, the first BritCham UK Alumni Mixer was held at The Happy Monk, Party Pier. Supported by great weather, more than 60 excellent alumni from different British Universities came along to join our networking drinks and enjoy a wonderful evening beside the Pearl River. To begin the event, Mei from British Consulate introduced the Chevening Scholarship Program and explained the application process. The Chevening Scholarship Program enables students with leadership qualities to undertake postgraduate study or courses at universities in the United Kingdom. We then invited two of our Alumni to speak to our audience. Kent Woo, partner of Zhonglun Law Firm and James, a Professor at South China University of Technology, both shared their experience of studying in UK and how they have progressed in their careers so far. They also shared some advice for the younger Alumni in the audience on how to achieve their goals and ambitions. To encourage everybody to mingle and build new connections, BritCham held a “Business Card Collecting” competition. The winner was the person who introduced themselves to other Alumni and collected the most business cards during the night. Handon from Air Asia won the prize, which was a bottle of fine wine. For further networking throughout the year, BritCham created a WeChat group for all the UK alumni in Guangdong, helping them to communicate and network beyond our event. If you are a UK Alumni, please get in touch with us to be added in to the group so that you can meet some old classmates and make new friends! Here’s the moments of 2018 UK Alumni Mixer. Thanks to the success and positive feedback from this event, the UK Alumni Mixer will be held again in the coming months. We strongly suggest you follow BritCham WeChat so that you won't miss any news!
