BritCham is Hiring | Shenzhen Membership Services Manager

The British Chamber of Commerce-Guangdong ("BCC") is seeking a Membership Services Manager to begin work in Shenzhen as soon as possible.

 

Background

 

With around 200 corporate members in Guangdong, the BCC is one of the largest and most active foreign chambers of commerce operating in Guangdong. The BCC’s role is to promote and foster close business ties between Guangdong Province and the UK through (i) providing a forum where members can meet and share experiences of doing business in Guangdong and China, (ii) organizing regular social and business events, (iii) working in conjunction with the British Consulate General Guangzhou and other official government bodies in relation to trade missions, high-level visits, seminars and other business functions, (iv) publish a bi-monthly magazine the "Chamber Eye" and (v) developing links with government authorities, other chambers of commerce and businesses in Guangdong and elsewhere.

 

The Role of Membership Services Manager

 

The Membership Services Manager shall be responsible for maintaining relations and servicing the British Chamber of Commerce Guangdong’s members. Reporting to the BCC's Executive Manager, the MS Manager’s duties shall include the following:

 

1. Managing day to day operations of the Shenzhen office

 

2. Researching UK companies in Guangdong 

 

3. Identifying and recruiting prospective members 

 

4. Answering membership and all other stakeholder enquiries 

 

5. Support the Chamber’s Event Manager in the organising of events and training in Shenzhen

 

6. Working closely and communicating with the Guangzhou team

 

7. Filing weekly membership update and general status reports to Guangzhou Executive Manager 

 

8. General responsibility for all membership and Shenzhen related matters 

 

9. Assisting with BCCGD strategic direction

 

10. Regularly attending events with networking opportunities to generate more members

 

11. Managing office systems and protocols for increased efficiency and quality of service

 

12. Recording and managing all cash flows associated with the Shenzhen office

 

 

The Successful Candidate

 

The successful candidate should possess excellent written and spoken English language skills and should ideally possess the following:

 

(a) Have at least 4 years working experience

 

(b) Have a good overall knowledge of business and industry in Southern China

 

(c) Be sales and entrepreneurially orientated, willing to implement own ideas and initiatives

 

(d) Maintain strong networks that can be leveraged to enhance chamber's services

 

(e) Marketing or business development experience - preferably in an international organisation

 

(f) Proficiency in Excel, Word, Photoshop and website knowledge

 

(g) Be able to work independently and use own initiative

 

(h) Be self-motivated, sociable and possess the confidence to deal with business people

 

(i) Be enthusiastic and outgoing, with an excellent phone and face to face manner

 

(j) Be well organised and systematic, and be willing to share a workload that does not fall directly under their job description
