Accountant - LEH International School, Foshan

Lady Eleanor Holles School was founded in 1710, the UK day school, has consistently been in the top 10 of high-achieving schools. LEH International School Foshan is its first overseas campus, and the first full British curriculum school in Foshan. We are seeking to recruit the finest teachers and staff, providing them with the resources to nurture outstanding students and exemplify the pioneering spirit and traditions of Lady Eleanor Holles School.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


Financial Systems, Reporting and Planning

·           Set-up the accounting function for this start-up School including defining and implementing suitable processes, controls, systems and reporting to ensure that the accounts present a true, accurate and complete record of the business;

·           Produce timely and accurate financial management reports (Income & Expenditure statement including explanation of material variances, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statement and Capital Expenditure reports);

·           Produce financial forecasts and business plan projections;

·           Proactively monitor budgets across all functions in the School during the year and provide assistance to budget holders as required;

·           Produce statutory accounts and tax/social insurance statements in line with local reporting requirements; and

·           Assist the Director of Finance and Operations in preparing financial reports for submission to Board meetings as required.

 

Financial Control & Compliance

·           Set-up, maintain and implement the Finance Procedures Manual;

·           Manage the preparation and review of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations;

·           Support external & internal audit and interim reviews;

·           Ensure that the School remains compliant with all tax and employer/employee social insurance regulations in China and the School’s policies on financial matters;

·           Liaise with the Procurement Manager on purchases and projects (such as school building fit-out) and deliver value-for-money to the School.


Financial & Payroll Processing

·           Ensure that the main accounting records (including but not limited to: payroll, billing and purchasing ledgers, nominal ledger, journals, fixed assets register and cash books) are maintained on a timely, accurate and consistent basis;

·            Prepare period end closing work on a timely basis;

·           Ensure that payments are processed on time, are against properly incurred and authorised expenses, are booked accurately and completely and all related supporting documentation is in place;

·           Ensure that accurate fee bills are issued and fees are collected on a timely basis;

·           Respond to and resolve any invoicing and billing queries from suppliers, parents and other third parties;

·      Handle VAT fapiao verification and related book-keeping as well as local tax reporting for the School and for expatriate employees, on a monthly and annual basis;

·           Prepare the payment of all salaries to both local and expatriate staff, tax and other deductions;

·           Respond to and resolve any payroll queries from staff;

·           Liaise with HR Manager over payroll matters as required; and

·           Manage local banking relationship.

 

General

·           Participate in training and appropriate learning activities as well as the School’s professional development review process; and

·           Any other ad hoc duties as may reasonably be requested by the Head Master and the Director of Finance and Operations.

 

Requirements:

·           Experience with ERP Accounting Software and familiar with MS office especially Excel;

·           Excellent proficiency in English;

·           Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

·           Educated to university degree level;

·           Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting;

·           Professional qualification in Accounting;

·           Ability to set-up and implement the necessary procedures, systems, controls and reporting for the accounting function from scratch;

·           Experience with budgeting, cost control and payroll processing;

·           Good understanding of local tax and regulatory regime; and

·           Experience in a multi-national environment.

Remuneration

A competitive annual salary of RMB 150k ~250k~based upon experience and proven ability to lead and inspire.
