Job Title:  Marketing Manager

Line Manager: Director of Marketing and Admission

Salary Scale: 10000-20000rmb per month

Merchiston International School seeks an enthusiastic Marketing Manager. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Admissions and will be responsible for marketing the school, using current branding update all necessary materials, form good relationships with media, create budgets suggestions, organise events held both in school and outside. Work closely with admissions and guide the marketing assistant and graphic designer where necessary.


This person will be expected to have the following capabilities in terms of personal qualities, professional experience and skills:


Primary responsibilities:


1.       Website and other e-marketing communications

· Creating and maintaining the school’s website

· Collating material and editing copy for the school’s regular newsletters,

· Updating the School’s Facebook and Twitter accounts

· Updating information about the School on external websites and directories

· Creating fresh and up-to-date web content

· Providing ideas and input into the development of new emarketing materials


2.       Marketing and publicity material

· Writing and producing marketing material (brochures, posters, flyers etc) for the school’s programmes, liaising with the relevant academic staff to update content as necessary

· Liaising with in-house and external designers for all production issues

· Preparing marketing materials for the school’s corporate relations activities, working with the Director of Marketing and Admissions

· Preparing PowerPoint presentations for the Senior Leadership Team at            recruitment events and conferences

· Coordinating and writing the school’s entries into school prospectuses- both hard copy and online

· Assisting the Director of Marketing and Admissions in compiling media plans

· Responsible for the school’s publicity stands and other events

· Selection and ordering of promotional merchandise for exhibitions and for use as corporate gifts


3.       Public Relations

· Liaison with academic and administrative staff to request and collate information for in-house publications

· Proactively searching out information for PR purposes and writing press releases

· Liaison with, and providing information to the media and arranging interviews with members of staff where necessary


4.       Advertising (printed media, outdoor and new media)

· Supporting the Director of Marketing and Admissions in booking, designing and tracking advertising for the School as required

· Creative input into new advertising campaigns

· Liaison with the School’s advertising agency, designers and printers (in-house and external)

· iv) Assistance with proofreading, copy writing, editing copy and information collection


5.       Events

· Assistance and coordination at Open Days and other major school events

· Coordinating the School’s annual graduation prize-giving

· Coordinating School events in relation to major accreditations and audits


6.       Market analysis & planning

· Gathering market intelligence and working with the Director of Marketing and Admissions to analyse results in relation to the School’s marketing   plans.

· Market Intelligence: Gathering information on competitor schools and programmes. Also gathering information on our programmes for use in rankings and other forms of market analysis.


The post holder will, from time to time, be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as may reasonably be required by his/her line manager.


Key Competencies:


1.       Education / qualification

bachelor degree in Marketing or related

Internationally recognised Marketing qualification


2.       Experience

Above 5 years in marketing with 3+ years relevant experience as a senior business management role in a commercial environment (preferably at an International School);


3.       Technical knowledge

Leadership, organisational skills and professionalism

Ability to guide, train and mentor the Marketing team

Multicultural communication and presentation skills, with fluency in written and spoken      English and      Chinese
